Defence Gardens Scheme CIC (DGS) is a not-for-profit organisation, registered as a community interest company (CIC) limited by guarantee, in Scotland. Company Number 681754.  Registered address 6 St Colme Street Edinburgh EH3 6AD.  In this policy, ‘DGS’, ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ all mean DGS.

How we collect personal information

We may collect personal information through the different ways that individuals contact and interact with us, including automatically collecting information when you visit our website. This may include:

How we Deal with Personal Information  

DGS Is what is known as the ‘controller’ of the personal data we collect.  We use this information to:

  • Provide access to our newsletter and other information we think you might find useful, where you have consented to this.

  • Record any contact we have with you.

  • Communicate with counterparty's and other organisations or individuals in our normal course of operating.

  • Monitor and understand website usage and prevent abuse or fraudulent use of our website

  • Support providing services to you where we use third party service providers  

We do not use this information directly for the purposes of direct marketing, and do not collect any ‘sensitive personal data’ as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998.

We will only share your personal data to third parties:

  • For the purposes of securely storing your information.

Storing and Retaining your Data

We keep your information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes it was collected for. The length of time we retain your personal information may be determined by operational and legal considerations.  We review our retention periods on a regular basis. We will only pass data to third parties outside the EEA where appropriate safeguards are in place as defined by article 46 of the General Data Protection Regulation
